As Big As A Horse You Say? Thanks Ray:)

My little pony

Silver dun tovero in colour, she was given

a clean bill of health and should reach

24 incheswhen grown.

The birth has generated such excitement

in the community that local people are

entering a competition to give the horse a

name in time for Christmas.

Owner Lee Scown said she wanted a name

that reflected the tiny, unique nature of

the horse.
'Its the smallest horse I've ever had and

she's so gorgeous,' Ms Scown said.

'We got told the mare wasn't

due for another four weeks

but on Sunday morning

I walked outside and called

her, and out ran the little

foal behind her.'

Imagine there’s no Heaven
It’s easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today

Imagine there’s no countries
It isn’t hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace

You may say that I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world

You may say that I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will live as one

How are you doing Aung San Suu Kyi ?

You must be so tired !

I don’t know if they still have you in the Guest House or another part of the prison. I can not imagine it being that clean or comfortable.

I am so sorry this has happened to you once again and again! The love you have for your people ….. to endure all this day after day, year after year is amazing. I am worn worrying about your welfare just from these few stressful days. Here I am a stranger from another land but I care and pray your people will have you safely back.

I hope the Powers of this World will put the money and greed aside and do something wonderful out of kindness. For your people, you and for the whole World. It would be nice to see love again!

From an older woman in another land,

Peace,

Ann LRD

Global Action for Burma: Free Aung San Suu Kyi

On 6th of May, an American citizen was detained by Burmese military regime after secretly swimming across Inya Lake, Rangoon to gain access to the Nobel Laureate’s House. According to the official Burmese media, he was identified as 53-year old former military serviceman John William Yettaw of Falcon, Missouri, USA. On 13th of May, American diplomat was allowed to meet with him. Although his motives for the alleged lake exploits remain unclear, it caused the Nobel Peace Prize winner, Aung San Suu Kyi to serve jail terms under the anti-subversion laws.

Aung San Suu Kyi has spent most of the past 19 years detained in virtual isolation in her crumbing compound since the junta refused to recognize her party’s landslide victory in the country’s last election in 1990. Her last period of detention at her home expires at the end of May. This expiration of six years of house arrest, without trail or charge or even figleaf of legal respectability, was to have yanked away from the generals.

Now, due to the uninvited access to her compound by American citizen, the military generals no longer need to trouble themselves with legal niceties and it has given them a ready-made reason to imprison the most prominent political prisoner up for at least another five years. It would perfectly play into the hands of the junta if the United States of America and international community do not stand up with the People of Burma who have been oppressed by the junta for several years.

Therefore, we call upon the international community and overseas Burmese people around the world to the global action for Free Aung San Suu Kyi. Demonstrations and a number of activities will take place in different countries. We would like to encourage everyone to join with us to show solidarity and unity.

Store shelves in every country on the planet are filled with goods and supplies manufactured by a myriad of corporations who are invested in Burma in spite of sanctions imposed on Than Shwe’s government. This is the primary reason sanctions did not succeed in the first place. It is time to sanction companies who’ve supported Burma in earnest, but really mean it. If everyone who is aware of Aung San Suu Kyi’s plight is truly sincere about their concern they will pay more attention to the names of corporations and countries that finance Burma. Nations can’t achieve what the average citizen can as far as sanctions are concerned. We have the same financial clout as The World Bank if we put our minds to it. Daewoo is only one of many corporations heavily invested in Burma’s tyranny and they fill shelves with electronic contraptions and cars on every highway on the Globe. If everyone “just said no” to Daewoo products Daewoo would be forced to divest in Burma. Suzuki is another one of Japans corporations who are in partnership with Than Shwe. US and European firms also share the dishonor of working with Asia’s devil. See *“Dirty List” for more details.

If corporate and economic issues are to take precedents over humanity then it’s time for humanity to use economics in its battle for human rights. Fight fire with fire.

Happy Mothers Day!

A New Art Form Keeps Showing Up

The most sustainable furniture on the planet may not be made of wood or metal, but rather recycled cardboard. European Karton Art Design has created upper end elegant furniture made entirely from recycled cardboard.

“The furniture evoke the atmosphere of good old times, yet give the feel of contemporary eco-design to make you comfortable in the passage between past and future,” explains Karton Art Design. The eco furniture is the brainchild of Hungarian installation artist Edit Szilvasy and furniture designer Andras Balogh.

The recycled cardboard furniture is easy to assemble using only paperclips, packs up flat for transport and has a guaranteed life of three years with an estimated life expectancy of ten years. The furniture uses a patented technology that makes the furniture as strong as wood, yet as light as paper.

Currently, the cardboard furniture line includes filing cabinets, bookshelves, wall panels, beds, counters and desks.
