Artwork by Kathie McCollough

Images of Eyes Gallery I
Native American Artwork by Kathie McCollough
United States

Kathie McCollough's first and ongoing love as an artist is in portraying faces, especially eyes that are haunting yet realistic.  Her first success as an artist was in portraying the faces of Native Americans, often combined with wildlife images.  Being a native of Albuquerque, New Mexico, may explain her continuing love of painting wildlife and peoples of the southwest.

In the mid 70s, while living in the San Francisco Bay area, Kathie participated in numerous juried art competitions and won awards for her artwork in 19 of 24 juried shows.  One newspaper writer, in commenting on her Native American art, referred to her as "...one of California's most talented painters of Indian art."

Kathie's ability to "do faces" resulted in commissioned portrait work, highlighted by a commemorative portrait of Jack London which is in the Jack London Museum in Glen Ellen, California.

All images will load in about 35 seconds with a 56K modem.
