Photos Antarctica Frozen Waves?

The water froze the instant the wave broke through the ice.
That's what it is like in Antarctica
Water freezes the instant it comes in contact with the air. The temperature of the water is already some degrees below freezing.
Just look at how the wave froze in midair

That really looks more like something that would happen in a cartoon than in real life.  I would hate to be surfing those waves...that sudden stop would not be fun at all.

Well, I know I am not going to get to this place, either, but I really appreciate that person who took these fabulous never seen before photos, so I will know what a frozen wave looks like.  Was this photo taken before or after global warming?  Well, during this winter I read the Arctic had no trouble freezing.
