Maija.... A Scandinavian woman who creates Pastels of Native American

About Maijatheartist.com

For those who don't know me ...

Maija.... A Scandinavian woman who creates Pastels of Native American Indians, Wolves, Mountain Men and much more!

I have been in the art business for almost 30 years and am mostly self-taught. Majored in Art at The University of Arkansas in the early 70's. As the daughter of an Air Force Colonel, who happened to have been a Commercial Artist in New York at one time, and my Mother who was quite talented in art, (both of whom never pursued a career in it) ...I figured maybe I would! It has paid off through the support of many fans of my work, with whom my career would have been imposible, and my biggest supporter... my husband Kevin, without whose love and encouragement, I would be lost!

My Inspiration- My love for the Human Spirit, both in people and the Animal Kingdom.

I look forward to showing my work with all of you...
Those who know me and those who have just begun...
Best Wishes,
Maija

To all my friends, family and Galleries Owners that have been there for me for over 30 years; I would like to thankyou all for your support. I am still very active in the art world with my Southwest, Indian, Rugged Mountain Man, Animal, Indian Chief, Wolf and Native American Indians; that I continue to do in pastel.

It has been a real pleasure to have met so many of you personally along the way and my husband and I look forward to seeing you in the near future as show trips across the United States come along. My husband Kevin and I still live in our mountain retreat at the foothills of the Colorado Rocky Mountains.

I dedicate this website to all of you and please e-mail me for the availability of my Artist Proofs. Keep checking back on this site for new Artist Proofs. Thankyou again for your support.

Who is this Artist, Maija ?

Maija has made her home in the foothills of the Rockies. This is the perfect environment for her budding artwork. Maija's favorite pastime is taking long walks along the front range near her home. The breathtaking scenery and the Ponderosa pines can only make one imagine a time when the land was untouched and inhabited by none other than the Native American. Although Maija has used other media, her favorite and most productive is pastels. Her style is distinguished by her subtle use of color and expressions. One cannot help being mesmerized by the emotion she captures in her subjects' eyes - whether it be her maidens, or the character she evokes from her elderly chiefs and rugged mountain men.
